2018 has developed into a productive year for OVAG on the path to achieving a sustainable regional cadre of professionals able to provide capacity building, advice, guidance and management of One Health matters with wildlife in Indonesia and Malaysia. The workshop was opened by Pak Sapto, Head of BKSDA Aceh, and Dr. Moh. Hambal, Dean of the Syiah Kuala University veterinary faculty. SKU were co-hosts with the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Program (SOCP). Once again we aere joined by the IUCN Small Apes Group, and a number of colleagues across Indonesia working with other wildlife
Topics covered this year included:
Vital skills: scientific writing and the peer review, case study presentation
Conservation management: Disease risk communication, Reproduction physiology and contraception, ZIMS, the enclosure design tool.
Clinical and Diagnostics: Anaesthesia, Radiology and ultrasonography, the primate microbiome
